UVAC latest resource Black Box is an innovative new resource hub tailored specifically for professionals involved in apprenticeships and skills programmes within higher education.
Black Box offers UVAC members a comprehensive and evolving collection of tools, templates, podcasts, and toolkits, supporting a wide range of roles across management, governance, delivery, and programme design. At launch, members will have access to a dozen short sessions designed for new tutors and review leads and, over time, Black Box will house the entirety of UVAC’s existing resource library alongside new, updated content focused on apprenticeships and the wider work-based learning portfolio.
Resources within Black Box are easily navigable through ten key elements representing the apprenticeship journey, supported by seven underpinning principles. Users can simply click on an element or principle to access a curated suite of materials, with flexible session formats to suit the time they have available. As the platform grows, users will also be able to compile personalised playlists of sessions and resources, or choose from pre-curated bundles — whether they are a new module lead, a new oversight committee member, or someone seeking professional development (CPD) or deeper understanding of apprenticeship practices.
Black Box is available exclusively to UVAC members, providing a powerful membership benefit to streamline processes, build confidence, and enhance understanding of apprenticeships and work-based learning.
