In 2013 the Government announced reforms to the way apprenticeships are to be designed and implemented in England. New standard-based apprenticeships will replace current frameworks in 2015 as part of the Government’s employer driven Trailblazer Strategy.
A group of Education and Training employers working on behalf of the sector have been leading this redesign. In this once in a generation opportunity, they are calling for the Education and Training sector and key stakeholders to get involved and to have their say on the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours that teachers should display on completion of their Education and Training Apprenticeship.
The Education and Training employer group urges you to view the four Education and Training Standard documents and carefully consider what you as an Education and Training employer or as a teacher would expect to see from your apprentices.
A consultation event was held in London on Monday, 13th April; you can find the Prezi presentation from the London event here – this will give some background relating to the new standards. Please click here to find the four Standards for consultation and the surveys, and the YouTube video. The survey will run until midnight on 8th May.
Your support in completing the survey is very much appreciated. Feedback which will be evaluated and auctioned at Leadership Group meetings in May.
During the period from now until the 8th May, further development work is being undertaken relating to the Assessment Plans that are being developed to support the four Standards. The group would welcome any ideas relating to your views for the Assessment Plan to support the four Standards that are currently being consulted upon.
The group is extremely keen for the Standards and Assessment Plans to be ‘fit for purpose’ for the entire sector.
