INVITATION TO RESPOND – Higher Education Commission Inquiry into Degree Apprenticeships

INVITATION TO RESPOND – Higher Education Commission Inquiry into Degree Apprenticeships

This month the Higher Education Commission (administered by Policy Connect, a cross-party, non-profit think tank) called for evidence as part of its inquiry into degree apprenticeships.

UVAC will be making a formal response on behalf of members but encourages all HE stakeholders to submit evidence as the inquiry is concerned with examining the “challenges” involved in implementing Degree Apprenticeships and “to what extent this new policy is actually addressing skills shortages”.

The main objectives of the inquiry are to determine or offer opinion on:

  1. how degree apprenticeships fit into the overall structure of tertiary education and training and is their formal relationship with other awards and pathways clear?
  2. what have been the major challenges of establishing degree apprenticeships for providers/employers?
  3. how far degree apprenticeships are proving an effective contribution to meeting the economy’s skills needs and doing so in a way that offers value-for-money?

The deadline for submission is Friday 19 October.

Evidence can be submitted to [email protected].

For more information about the Commission or the inquiry please contact Tom McEwan, Senior Researcher on 0207 922 8003 or see details here.
