On October 1 2014, City & Guilds launched the TechBac® – a new professional programme designed to give 14- to 19-year-olds an alternative path towards an apprenticeship, higher education or employment. From this date, the TechBac® will launch in engineering, construction, land, early years and digital/IT. More sectors will be added every year as the TechBac® develops.
City & Guilds has designed this programme in partnership with employers and experts from the education sector, to equip young people with the skills they need to confidently enter the world of work and pave the way to a successful career. The TechBac® includes a technical qualification and an accredited project qualification with practical work experience and essential workplace skills to deliver a dynamic and varied programme of study to get young people ready for work.
City & Guilds has also ensured that the TechBac® provides clear progression routes for young people without closing off any doors. The qualifications have been submitted to UCAS for inclusion on their tariff, so learners have the option to continue into higher education or employment.
