Sammy has extensive expertise in further and higher education, business development, and apprenticeship management. With a robust background spanning nearly two decades, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a proactive approach in building strategic partnerships and driving organisational growth.
Currently serving as the Group Director of Apprenticeships at London South Bank University (LSBU), Sammy provides strategic direction for apprenticeship programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and fostering partnerships with local employers and stakeholders. Under his leadership, LSBU has experienced significant expansion, increasing both the number of apprenticeship offerings and the engagement of business partners. Noteworthy achievements include elevating LSBU’s national ranking in apprenticeship provision and securing nominations for prestigious industry awards.
Prior to his role at LSBU, Sammy held key positions at institutions such as New City College and Croydon College, where he spearheaded business development initiatives and successfully met apprenticeship targets while diversifying income streams. His tenure at New City College saw the establishment of partnerships with prominent organisations like NHS trusts and the delivery of bespoke training programmes, contributing to substantial revenue generation and organisational success.
With a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of West London and certifications in strategic management and leadership, Sammy brings a wealth of academic and practical knowledge to his roles. His commitment to professional development is evident through his active involvement in voluntary roles, including serving as a board member for the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) and co-chairing the Apprenticeship Sub Group for the Lambeth Skills and Employment Board.
As a trustee and board member of Aston Mansfield, Sammy played a pivotal role in steering the organisation towards strategic growth and successful rebranding, further highlighting his proficiency in strategic planning and governance.
