The Satellite Application Catapult is one of nine UK Catapults dedicated to boosting our national capability and promoting growth in strategically important areas of innovation and technology. Growing the UK space sector by increasing integration of space data, technology, and services into non-space sectors, where doing so can make the greatest possible difference to global society. Big data and rapid technological advancements can be hugely beneficial, improving business performance in a diverse range of industry sectors, from healthcare to agriculture, retail and e-commerce to entertainment, logistics, finance, emergency response, defence ,and securitisation, and helping us to build an infrastructure, solving problems and international security challenges, and enhancing the quality of our lives. It’s therefore essential that we raise our awareness of the concept of ubiquitous data to understand the digital landscape of the 21st Century and harness available data to support UK growth.
This professional exchange will serve to bring industry and education technical experts together, to discuss and explore opportunities, challenges, and solutions to problems, because of technological advancements, and the constantly evolving skills and education and training landscape. We will explore learning from industry, technologists, and education in terms of big data and the effective harnessing of technology to find solutions to everyday challenges, while improving life chances, meeting the needs of individuals, and supporting businesses and communities to thrive.
