As part of the development of the resources and recorded sessions being added to the UVAC Black Box, we are expanding our offer for our first two topic areas into live workshops for member organisations and their staff.
Our first two workshops – teaching on an apprenticeship and conducting progress reviews on an apprenticeship – are free to attend and for all staff involved in each process, as a valuable part of their induction or as part of CPD.
UVAC Members are invited to register for:

This session is supported by additional recorded short sessions, materials and resources available in the UVAC Black Box.
Successful Practice in Apprenticeship Delivery –First Progress Review
Wednesday 5 November
Designed for those new to progress reviews looking to understand the key principles, this session supports new progress review leads in understanding their role within the apprenticeship system. We’ll cover the structure and purpose of progress reviews, how to use them to drive learning, and how they contribute to programme oversight and compliance. This session is supported by additional recorded short sessions, materials and resources available in the UVAC Black Box.
Industrial Strategy and Sectors
TBC and announced at the start of September.
Throughout the Autumn programme we will be running sessions about the Industrial Strategy, its Sector Reports and information about each sector. Our aim is to ensure that the opportunities presented by the government’s targeted approach for work-place and wider programmes are clear and that members can align their provision and demonstrate contribution to the Strategy, both externally and internally.
Look out for our ADHOC Sessions coming up!
Because there is so much change in the apprenticeship and workplace learning programme environment expected during the autumn, we are also expecting possible announcements for which we don’t yet have a firm timescale. Announcements on any of the following are possible:
Each session will provide a summary of the announcement and the changes identified with an analysis of its impact. We will explore the possible changes to policy, procedures, and practice for members and suggest actions to take.
In each case we will schedule a live session as quickly as possible once dates and/or documents are clear. This might be at very short notice but the recording will be available after each session.
Black Box is a resource hub designed for those involved in apprenticeships and skills programmes within higher education. Offering a collection of tools, templates, podcasts, and toolkits, it supports professionals across roles in management, governance, delivery, and design. As an exclusive UVAC membership benefit, this resource ensures that those working in the sector can streamline processes and enhance their understanding of apprenticeships through targeted materials.
