Higher Education Sector Level 7 Academic Professional Apprenticeship Standard in Development

The Higher Education sector is responding to the introduction of apprenticeship standards with the development of a new apprenticeship for Academic Professionals. A HE employer trailblazer consortium is being led by Southampton Solent University and Staffordshire University and includes representatives from more than 70 universities, private providers, mission groups and sector bodies.
The Academic Professional standard will be a Level 7 Apprenticeship which aims to build on the existing UK professional standards and researcher frameworks. It will offer an opportunity for providers to develop their newly appointed academic professionals using a postgraduate certificate or diploma.

Welcoming this development, Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills Robert Halfon said  “congratulations to the Higher Education Trailblazer for developing the Academic Professional standard and for playing an active role in developing the workforce of the future.”

Universities UK are providing administrative support for the trailblazer, funded by HEFCE’s Degree Apprenticeship Development Fund. For further information contact Gilmar Queiros at [email protected]
