A reflection on the UVAC 2023 National Conference

A reflection on the UVAC 2023 National Conference

“…probably the national leading event in terms of practitioners coming together who really care about developing higher quality apprenticeships…” Prof. Darryll Bravenboer,  Director of Apprenticeships at Middlesex University”

The UVAC  conference back in November showcased an array of knowledge through a range of breakout sessions, thought-provoking panel discussions and the sharing of valuable insights. The theme was around Going for Growth in Higher and Degree Apprenticeships and Technical Education in England and UVAC CEX, Dr Mandy Crawford-Lee, said on the day;

“This is a really important theme.  We’ve seen government investment of over £40 million in the growth of degree apprenticeships but we want all our members and universities, who are not our members, to think about the way in which they carefully manage any growth strategy in the delivery of apprenticeships and higher technical qualifications.”

The feedback has been extremely positive and AI was definitely one of the hot topics of the day:

“I think the highlight of the event …  is around the impact of AI in the delivery of education. How we can streamline the apprenticeship provision, the apprentice journey, to remove some of the administrative processes and make sure that everything is done correctly and in a compliant way using AI. “ Sammy Shummo Director of Apprenticeships at London South Bank University.

“…there’s so much to think about with AI and speakers … have all been really good about thinking about breaking down barriers, how  are we going to use it?  It’s not a case of ‘it’s there, we don’t want anything to do with it’  It’s how are we going to embrace it and how are we going to use it effectively to meet the skills needs?”  Kerry Boffey,  Fellowship of Inspection Nominees.

For both online and in person delegates, access to ALL the content is still available. Delegates should have received access details but for further info contact [email protected]
