SURVEY on Progression Issues for Apprentices Seeking to Enter Health and Care Roles – FOR ACTION

SURVEY on Progression Issues for Apprentices Seeking to Enter Health and Care Roles – FOR ACTION

Dr Finbar Lillis is working with The Centre for Apprenticeships and Skills, and School of Health and Education at Middlesex University to conduct initial scoping research for Health Education England (HEE).

A report will be produced by early August 2019, with recommendations for a cohesive long-term strategy for developing transversal skills for person centred care – including ways to address English and maths weaknesses that impede progression into regulated healthcare professions.

An online line survey is now open and UVAC encourages HEIs to complete – especially in relation to progression issues for apprentices seeking to enter health and care occupations.

The opening paragraphs of the survey explain what the project and the survey is about.

Finbar is looking for evidence of university support for learner progression that may not always be ‘health specific’ but may be of benefit to those seeking entry to relevant apprenticeships in health and care – provision which may address some of the well reported issues that lead to this scoping research. Finbar is keen not to miss out reference to any current HEI practices that work.

As well as gathering responses to the survey, Finbar is also looking to offer a webinar on the project findings and recommendations. Details to be provided in the future.
