UVAC has deployed its full staff complement at this year’s Skills Show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham. UVAC’s stand focuses on Degree Apprenticeship and we hope to be busy throughout the Show – with the UVAC team answering questions from young people and their teachers on the opportunities offered by Degree Apprenticeships.

For the UVAC team the Skills Show provides an opportunity to bust the myth that Degree Apprenticeship is just for the middle class. UVAC is able to outline how Degree Apprenticeship provides a debt free work based progression route through higher education to professional and managerial occupations. The team want to outline case studies of how universities, including Russell Group institutions are working with employers to use Degree Apprenticeship to widen participation and engage under-represented cohorts.

Working with our university members we’ll be publishing, over the next few months, case studies focused on social mobility and Degree Apprenticeship.

Degree Apprenticeships will open up new opportunities for young people and adults with the aspiration and ability to higher and professional level occupations. New opportunities will be developed in nursing, social work and engineering occupations, to name but a few.

The Skills Show enables UVAC to celebrate the Degree Apprenticeship agenda and the new opportunities it offers for young people.
