FINAL Call Out – workshop proposals: UVAC National Conference #uvac2017

FINAL Call Out – workshop proposals: UVAC National Conference #uvac2017

The UVAC national conference is the annual event for those engaged in Degree Apprenticeship, skills and work-based learning and will provide a summary of policy, but mainly focus on developing partnerships and implementing good practice to ensure successful delivery.  It will take place on Tuesday, 21 November 2017 at etc.venues Maple House, Birmingham, B4 6TB.

Registration details can be found here.

This year we are revisiting a previous idea for organising UVAC’s national conference. As part of the programme for the day UVAC is inviting proposals from Higher Education Institutions and their partners to deliver workshops on Good Practice in Degree Apprenticeship and Higher Level Work-based Learning Delivery.

Proposals should focus on one or more of the following themes:

  • Marketing and Recruitment – successfully selling Apprenticeship to large businesses and SMEs and approaches to student/apprentice recruitment
  • Programme Design, Pedagogy, Work-based, Distance and Blended Learning – approaches to successful delivery and employer/HEI/PSRB collaboration
  • End Point Assessment – integrated Degree Apprenticeships and working with End Point Assessment Organisations
  • Productivity and Social Mobility – approaches to Degree Apprenticeship that deliver the productivity and/or social mobility agendas.

Workshops should last 45 minutes and will be scheduled for either:

12 noon to 12.45 or 2.15 to 3.00.  We aim to have three workshops at the end of the morning session and three separate and distinctive workshops run in the afternoon.

We would encourage all presenters to allow for at least 15 minutes for discussion and to aim to make all presentations and workshop activity as interactive as possible.

Proposals will be peer reviewed.  Those invited to run a workshop will also be encouraged to develop a paper for UVAC’s peer reviewed academic journal Higher Education, Skills and Work-based Learning.

Proposals should include:

  1. A title (max 30 words)

 2. A summary of the workshop (max 300 words)

 3. Name(s), position(s) of presenters and organisation(s)

Workshop proposals should be submitted to [email protected] by 6th September

Applicants will be informed of the decision during the week commencing 11th September and a prize will be awarded for the best workshop idea, at the end of the conference in Birmingham.
