Registrations still open for Learning at Work for Business, Personal and Professional Development Seminar

Registrations still open for Learning at Work for Business, Personal and Professional Development Seminar

Taking place Tuesday 21st April 2026, 13:00–16:00, this online seminar and discussion will explore the theme of custom and negotiated modules and programmes, and how they can support flexible, work-based learning for individuals and organisations.

Negotiated learning modules offer a powerful way for individuals to develop through their work, pursue areas of interest, and engage in tailored continuing professional development. For employers and organisations, they provide an opportunity to shape accredited learning that responds directly to practical needs, challenges, and emerging opportunities.

These modules can stand alone as micro-credentials, be combined into short programmes, contribute to professional degrees or apprenticeships, or form part of themed CPD and executive development pathways. They can also sit at the heart of fully negotiated, bespoke learning programmes designed around specific organisational goals.

The session will be led by Dr Stan Lester, UVAC associate, consultant, and researcher, who brings over 30 years of experience in work-based learning research and systems design. Dr Lester will also be developing a report examining the different forms and “shades” of work-based learning delivered through higher education.

The seminar will include an introduction to key principles of learning at work, followed by facilitated discussion on concepts, practices, and real-world applications. It will also explore how UVAC can support the development of learning-at-work approaches, alongside a focused discussion on sector needs and priorities.

This event will be particularly relevant to academics, programme leaders, and managers interested in developing or enhancing negotiated and bespoke work-based learning provision.

Registration remains open, and colleagues are encouraged to share this opportunity widely with those who may benefit from attending.
