Protect Student Choice – James Kewin, Sixth Form Colleges Association

The Education Select Committee published this report yesterday that endorsed the Protect Student Choice campaign’s ask to retain Applied General Qualifications (AGQ).

“The recent responses to parliamentary questions about the campaign and the need to pause defunding are indistinguishable from those provided by the previous government. The recipe has not changed: do not address the question, do not mention AGQs by name, restate that T levels are fantastic (which they are for some students, but that does not address the gap issue)”.

These two responses are worth a look, to highlight what the SFCA are up against:

The decision to extend the pause hangs in the balance so please continue to highlight the urgent need for a pause with MPs and policymakers.

The SFCA have tweeted using #ProtectStudentChoice and ask if you could do the same and share via your networks
