Designed for professionals in higher and degree apprenticeships, higher technical education, professional skills, and work-based learning, our October calendar blends online webinars, interactive workshops, and regular networking opportunities. It all builds towards our flagship National Conference in November—a highlight of the year and a chance to connect, share, and shape the future together.

UVAC’s webinar and Black Box online workshop programme is for all UVAC members, their leadership teams and all colleagues engaged in apprenticeships and work based learning , so please do share these events as widely as needed with colleagues.

 

UVAC ‘STATE OF THE NATION’

This is a chance to catch-up on the UVAC perspectives on apprenticeship and skills policy and happenings in Government relating to the industrial strategy, LLE and the Growth and Skills Levy in addition to exploring UVAC’s membership support and plans for AY 2025/26. Register

 

Autumn Webinar Programme

Our Autumn webinar programme covers areas where we anticipate increased scrutiny, opportunity for growth, and where good practice can make a real impact. The series also includes good practice interactive online workshops for the first time; one for progress review teams and one for tutors and module leads. These are aimed at those in their first or early reviews or teaching sessions and each will provide an interactive and participative session to supplement induction and CPD.

 

Embedding Effective Recognition of Prior Experience & Learning

This practical session for apprenticeship teams and curriculum and teaching staff will explore successful practice using recognition of prior learning RPEL principles within apprenticeship delivery.

This UVAC session explores the inner workings of the Provider Data Self-Assessment Toolkit and provides a step by step guide to implementing effective ILR management.

Preparing for On- Programme Apprenticeship Assessments – Authentic Assessment

Thursday 23rd October 2025 | 9:30 – 11:30

This session sets out how to use the principles of authentic assessment in apprenticeship curriculum design in response to the emerging on programme Apprenticeship Assessment. This change in assessment practice will mean updating the design of curriculum in place now and place more focus on the way that we work with employers to prepare and update new and existing programmes.

Making the Most out of Modular Content

With the increasing emphasis on flexibility in funded work-based programmes through Higher Technical Qualifications, Life Long Learning Entitlement and employers fully funding their provision, this session for curriculum and teaching teams, for validation and explores approaches to modularising apprenticeship content.  Register 

 

Black Box online workshops 

As part of the development of the resources and recorded sessions being added to the UVAC Black Box, we have expanded our offer into live workshops for member organisations and their staff. 

Black Box Workshop

Designed for those new to apprenticeship teaching or wanting to understand the key principles underpinning successful delivery, this participative and interactive workshop introduces the concepts in apprenticeship delivery and how they affect curriculum planning and teaching practice.

UVAC Knowledge Networks 

These networks provide a collaborative forum for higher education practitioners, staff, and academics to share expertise, discuss apprenticeships, explore the evolving HE skills landscape, and engage with wider stakeholders. They offer a supportive space for building communities of practice around apprenticeship standards and subject specialisms, helping members connect, collaborate, and strengthen provision across technical and professional qualifications.
