Workshops launched to help organisations start and grow their Higher and Degree Apprenticeship offer
Two workshops were launched at the Annual Conference of the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) on 22 November, to help organisations enter the Higher and Degree Apprenticeships market and seize the opportunities. Jointly delivered by the Strategic Development Network (SDN) (a conference sponsor) and UVAC, the events will help organisations develop plans, prepare, deliver and expand their higher-level apprenticeship offer.
Adrian Anderson, Chief Executive of UVAC, said:
“The introduction of the apprenticeship levy for large employers, and the increasing number of new higher and degree-level apprenticeship standards, means there are significant opportunities for who deliver and/or assess higher-level apprenticeships. We are expecting significant employer demand for higher-level apprenticeships from April next year. These workshops are designed to help you – as a university, FE college or training provider – meet this demand.”
The first workshop, taking place in February 2017, will focus on how to plan, prepare and enter the Higher and Degree Apprenticeship market. The day will take organisations through the reforms, what employer-led higher-level apprenticeships look like, and how to prepare the ground ready to deliver their first cohort.
The second workshop, also in February 2017, will help those currently delivering Higher and Degree Apprenticeships to expand their offer and accelerate their growth. The day will take organisations through employer engagement strategies and the levy, deciding on their future role (on-programme training, end-point assessment, product/services), and what needs to be in place to implement this.
Colin Bentwood, Managing Director of SDN, said:
“SDN have been at the cutting edge of the reforms since their inception – supporting many employer groups to develop Higher and Degree Apprenticeships. We’ve also been up and down the country supporting thousands of staff from hundreds of FE colleges, universities and training providers to prepare for the reforms. This programme gives us an exciting opportunity to share our in-depth knowledge and practical insights, so organisations can strategically and operationally seize the opportunities.”
