Apprenticeship Workforce Development Programme – Join a Survey Focus Group

Apprenticeship Workforce Development Programme – Join a Survey Focus Group

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone – and there were hundreds of you – who completed the Apprenticeship Workforce Development (AWD) Survey. We are now in phase 2  and running a range of focus groups clustered broadly by job role to dig into the detail of the survey themes and findings. These kick off this week with a roundtable for Heads of Apprenticeship on Wednesday 25th January.

The dates and links are below:

  • the sessions are capped at 12 people but we will keep running sessions until everyone who wants to have their say about the content and mode of workshops for apprenticeship design, delivery and management staff have  been reached
  • You don’t need to have completed the survey to join the focus group

The AWD programme will include a suite of CPD activities for those delivering apprenticeships, focused on a range of topics to support improved quality of apprenticeship delivery. Activities may include online learning, resources, webinars, training courses and action research projects. It will also include networks and communities of practice to support the sharing of best practice.

The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) as a key part of their strategy to drive quality improvement across apprenticeships. The programme is being delivered by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), in partnership with the Association of Colleges (AoC), Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), Strategic Development Network (SDN), and University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC), and supported by SQW as an independent evaluation partner.

The continuous professional development (CPD) offered through the AWD programme is currently in development. To support the programme’s development, and to ensure that the sector’s training needs are met, the delivery partners are conducting focus groups with those involved in apprenticeship delivery to enable them to share insights about their own and their organisation’s training needs that will help shape the AWD offer.
