ROUNDTABLE: Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in Healthcare

ROUNDTABLE: Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in Healthcare

UVAC and the Council of Deans of Health invite you to attend a roundtable on Thursday 26 April focusing on how we can ensure the successful delivery of apprenticeships in healthcare subjects.

The NHS is by far the largest levy payer and apprenticeships in healthcare professions (e.g. registered nurse, nursing associate, allied health profession subjects and advanced practice) offer NHS Trusts and health sector employers one route to help tackle workforce shortages, support progression and utilise apprenticeship levy payments. For higher education providers the development of healthcare apprenticeships offers significant scope to develop new apprenticeship provision.

Unfortunately, we are aware that there are significant barriers to the successful implementation of apprenticeships in healthcare occupations. The roundtable will aim to determine how barriers to successful implementation are overcome and how we can ensure the healthcare apprenticeships that the Government and employers want are delivered.

Issues that will be covered at the event will include:

–        Tendering, contracting and management charges and requirements in the NHS

–        The impact of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Funding Rules

–        The costing of higher and degree apprenticeships

–        Key apprenticeship requirements e.g. employed status and off-the-job training

–        On-the-job, placement support and preparation

–        End Point Assessment

Our objective is to identify barriers and opportunities and to plan how we can support successful implementation of these apprenticeships.

This event is not simply about information giving. If you are attending, we would like you to have detailed knowledge of the issues affecting implementation of delivery and be prepared to explore and propose solutions.

Colleagues from the ESFA, the Department of Health, Health Education England, regulators and employer representatives, have been invited to attend.

Places are limited to one individual per institution. Register here for your place.

The meeting will start at 12h30 with lunch and take place at:
