Black Box is a resource hub designed for those involved in apprenticeships and skills programmes within higher education. Offering a collection of tools, templates, podcasts, and toolkits, it supports professionals across roles in management, governance, delivery, and design.
To begin with members can access a dozen short sessions for new tutors and review leads and eventually Black Box will house all of UVAC’s existing library of resources. These will sit alongside the new and updated content currently in development for apprenticeships, and our wider skills and work-based learning portfolio, including resources about and from our Apprenticeship Knowledge Networks, HTQ’s and HERA (data dashboard) which will join the BBX this year too.
The BBX resources are designed for everyone in higher education who is involved in apprenticeships and the wider work-based learning portfolio, whether you are in a central apprenticeship team, or in management, governance, delivery or design.
The resource bank is accessed through 10 elements representing the apprenticeship journey and 7 underpinning principles. Clicking on one of the elements or principles takes you to the suite of resources available to support this topic.
You can see the UVAC Apprenticeship Journey below.
The Black Box resources complement our new pre-recorded sessions which are divided into four types with different duration and depth of content:
There will be a session that is right for the time that you have available and as the Black Box grows, you will be able to compile your own playlist of sessions and resources to suit your role, or use the bundles suggested by the BBX – for a new module lead, a new member of the oversight committee, or someone new to apprenticeships, for CPD or just to understand aspects of apprenticeships in greater detail. You can email [email protected]
As an exclusive UVAC membership benefit, this resource ensures that those working in the sector can streamline processes and enhance their understanding of apprenticeships through targeted materials.
The main content of Black Box will gradually be released as new resources are added monthly.
Designed to meet the needs of both new and experienced professionals, Black Box helps refresh practice, improve knowledge, and stay informed about evolving trends in the apprenticeship landscape.
