UVAC Research & Projects

UVAC has a longstanding commitment to advancing technical, professional, and applied learning within higher education. Our research initiatives are designed to support higher education institutions in delivering degree apprenticeships and higher technical skills programs that meet employer demands and contribute to government.

A cornerstone of our scholarly contributions is the peer-reviewed journal, Higher Education, Skills and Work-based Learning (HESWBL), now in its thirteenth year of publication. HESWBL serves as a platform for disseminating research on vocational education, fostering dialogue among academics, practitioners, and policymakers.

UVAC membership gives exclusive access to research and projects encompass several key areas, including:

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) Project: This initiative focuses on recognizing and accrediting learning gained through experience, facilitating pathways for individuals to advance their education and careers.

IDEAL Erasmus+ Research: Through international collaboration, this project aims to identify and promote best practices in vocational education and training across Europe, enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education programs.

Edge Foundation Research – Sustainable Degree Apprenticeships: In partnership with the Edge Foundation, UVAC investigates the sustainability of degree apprenticeships, providing insights to ensure these programs effectively meet the needs of students, employers, and the economy.
