Just a quick reminder to complete the DfE/ESFA survey on workforce development needs HERE.
For the last six months we have been liaising with ESFA colleagues about the Apprenticeship Workforce Development Programme trailed in the Skills for Jobs White Paper. Indeed, ESFA asked ETF to commission UVAC to review the first stage of the programme in the spring, earlier this year, and we rightly highlighted that the existing programme did NOT reflect much of your current practice in delivering higher and degree apprenticeships.
In September ESFA will launch a tender exercise. We have been advising on coverage (along with AELP and AoC) and are well positioned to advise and influence the nature and scope of the content. ESFA knows what we do and has relied on us for advice. They intend that the programme will be available for all providers and cover all levels. There is a separate strand for higher and degree apprenticeships (one out of nine) – details of all strands are yet to be circulated. Higher and degree apprenticeships are described as a ‘little different’. Most other strands focused on topics such as employer engagement and diversity could, if delivered appropriately, be of value to HEIs and UVAC should be in a good position to leverage influence in those areas too.
Completing this survey will support the creation of a programme of practitioner and apprenticeship workforce development that is of most value to our sector. So, we do encourage as many colleagues as possible to complete the survey online. Don’t forget to forward and encourage your colleagues whatever their role in delivering apprenticeships.
