Why does UVAC work with WorldSkills UK?
26 November, 2024For over ten years UVAC has had a close strategic partnership with WorldSkills UK.
UVAC is immensely proud to be WorldSkillsUK‘s first ever higher education partner and together, WorldSkills UK and UVAC are ensuring that more young people, right across the UK, can access world-class training through WorldSkills UK’s competition-based training programmes.
As part of our work with WorldSkills UK, UVAC focuses on excellence and challenging prejudice, changing perceptions, and highlighting that skills are not just about craft and trade and individuals already in the workplace are an important aspect of policy and practice.
Since 2022 UVAC has been proud to partner with WorldSkills UK on its Competitor Support Fund. UVAC’s contribution towards the fund is a way of demonstrating our wider commitment to learning and progression opportunities for young people. The fund provides direct financial support to those who have faced barriers to entering the WorldSkills UK national competitions with a wider ambition of breaking down barriers for young people so that those from any background can access life-changing opportunities by competing on a regional, national, and international stage.
For UVAC members The WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence is a perfect example of the huge benefit gained from working with WSUK. It brings together further and higher technical education colleagues, employers, and stakeholder partners to discuss high quality CPD focussed on raising standards, championing future skills, and empowering young people and businesses to succeed, mainstreaming international and national best practice.
