CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO DELIVER IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT: Workshop – Surgery – Masterclass – Roundtable – Briefing – Poster Session

UVAC’s 2019 National Conference is the annual event for those engaged in Degree Apprenticeships, skills and work-based learning. Our conference will provide an opportunity for you to reflect on policy and government requirements, showcase and explore developed partnerships and demonstrate the range of outstanding and effective approaches (including in research) to successful outcomes in technical, vocational and professional education and training. It is an especially important event this year because UVAC is celebrating its 20th anniversary of representing higher education in skills and higher level work-based learning. Our headline sponsor this year is CMI and we already have workshops in design by ILM | City & Guilds, Mesma (specialist in quality improvement), OCR with NCFE and City and Guilds, Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand and De Montfort University.

As part of the conference programme UVAC is inviting proposals from HE providers and partner organisations to set out a proposal to deliver sessions on one or more of the following themes:

  • Innovation in delivery and assessment
  • Apprenticeship pedagogy and learning solutions
  • Outreach, social mobility and progression
  • Assuring quality and ensuring quality improvement
  • Degree Apprenticeships:
    • as disruptors
    • their fit with HE provision per se
    • from HE strategy to impact on recruitment and employers
    • new aspects: from displacement vis-a-vis new markets to pedagogy and learning solutions
  • HE in the context of the post-18 review and Higher Technical Education (Level 4-5) Review

Sessions should last no more than 35 minutesand will be scheduled for either the morning or afternoon. We are aiming to run as many as four break-out sessions during the day as we know there is much to share and discuss.

We would encourage all presenters to allow for discussion and aim to make sessions as interactive as possible.

Proposals will be peer reviewed. 

Those invited to run a session will also be encouraged to develop a paper for UVAC’s peer reviewed academic journal Higher Education, Skills and Work-based Learning.

Proposals should include:

  • A title (max 30 words)
  • Detail of the Theme(s) covered
  • A summary of the session (max 300 words)
  • Format type
  • Name(s), position(s) of presenters and organisation(s)

Workshop proposals should be submitted to Mandy Crawford-Lee, Conference Organiser, Director of Policy and Associate Editor of HESWBL by Friday, 13th September

Applicants will be informed of our decision by 20 September.
