Ofsted’s Chief Inspector Undermines the Focus of Apprenticeship as an Employer led Programme – UVAC OPINION
In response to the statements made by Ofsted Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman, in her Annual Report, UVAC’s chief executive Adrian Anderson questions in this article why Ofsted is arguing to prioritise level 2 apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds.
He asks that while a number of level two Apprenticeships may be appropriate don’t we NEED a high skill, high wage economy, with police constables, nurses, social workers and an excellently managed NHS with those equipped with professional level skills rather than a low skill, low wage economy? The case is also made to the Chief Inspector that Degree Apprenticeships are opening up new opportunities to the professions, supporting individuals benefit from higher education and enhancing social mobility.
