A Guide to Working with PDSAT/FMRs and Running an Internal Audit

This session is a deep dive practical workshop exploring the use of PDSAT and the funding monitoring reports, run jointly between UVAC and Karl Bentley at RSM. This workshop will look in depth at how to use both tools, and through some typical scenarios will explore how to address the issues identified. Good Practice Tripartite Progress Reviews – Advice for Review Leads

This session has been developed for staff with responsibility for delivering tripartite progress reviews. We will explore the cycle of reviews and learn from members how they have integrated the fourth session in the now 12 weeks cycle across the apprenticeship. We will also explore how to ensure that content and structure deliver substantial and significant progress for Ofsted and look at the most common good practice & issues observed during peer and Ofsted observations. This session will include a suggested topic calendar for reviews to incorporate core apprenticeship curriculum topics and an updated tripartite review structure. Implementing the Apprenticeship Accountability Framework

This session brings us up to date with the ESFA accountability framework and shares how we need to respond to the framework by amending or updating key performance indicators, tracking and governance. Conducting teaching & progress review observations

This session will set out how to structure an apprenticeship monitoring observation of both tripartite reviews and teaching learning sessions. Using a new template, we will explore successful observation frameworks and hear from universities about the challenges and benefits of embedding a dedicated apprenticeship model as part of their peer observation structure. Embedding On and Off the Job Learning

This session will look at successful practice in integrating on the job learning activities as part of the planned apprenticeship. We will explore the latest ESFA guidance in practice and hear from members who have successfully engaged employers in a joint plan. We will hear from universities about how they have managed to engage apprentices and keeping their learning logs up to date, work with employers to embed on the job through complementary activity and embed off the job record keeping as part of the university regulations and conditions of progression. Skill Scans, Prior Learning Judgments and the Initial Needs Assessment process

This deep dive session will explore the impact of the increased focus on Initial needs assessment and skills scans – this session explores the practicalities of implementing a thorough skill scan process and how members approach this process to ensure that there is a direct link between this and the Training Plan, setting the right starting point for apprentices. This session will explore the ‘ideal’ skills scan and consider how the skill scan and initial needs assessment should be used throughout the apprenticeship. The Apprentice Voice

This session will explore the different models for ensuring that feedback from apprentices is influencing how we deliver degree apprenticeships. We will explore good practice in apprentice staff liaison committees, surveys and other sources of feedback from apprentices during their apprenticeship.
