Element 1 – Design & Develop

The BBX design and development element includes information on key tasks and activities involved in the successful design of an apprenticeship programme. It has been developed for module leads, tutors, heads of curriculum and teaching with oversight of quality of teaching, quality teams,approval and validation committees and leaders – for all staff with accountability for delivery of a successful, compliant and high-quality programme which meets the requirements for an apprenticeship.

Scope

The tasks and activities in scope in this section of the BBX include effective consultation with employers and apprentices, meeting expectations from Ofsted and apprenticeship compliance rules, considerations in the design process including mode, sequencing and integration of on and off the job learning, the app core curriculum, safeguarding and Prevent, successful structures and documentation required for validation and approval of apprenticeship programmes, assignments, end-point assessments.The topics, tools and resources, recordings, templates and case studies provided in this section of the BBX have been designed to share successful practice in undertaking these tasks. The additional roles and responsibilities, tips and pitfalls to avoid linked to successful achievement of each activity is also included in this section.
